SPORT AND EXERCISE SIG oNE-DAY CONFERENCE

NEW! Continuing education credits are available for this event! Download the CE packet here.

This meeting provides a unique opportunity for any health care professionals or sport personnel who work with athletes and recreational sports participants. As a result of this one-day conference, attendees will be able to assess and understand the latest research and clinical practices in the field related to eating disorders in athletes and recreational sports participants, and also identify risk factors and dangerous exercise behaviors in athletes, recreational athletes and non-athletes.

Additionally, attendees will be able to assess the relevance of new findings regarding prevention, identification and early intervention of those engaging in dangerous exercise behaviors and disordered eating, and relate these findings to clinical practice and creation of healthy sports environments. Critically, attendees will be able to discuss potential new partnerships with coaches, athletics administrators, athletic trainers and athletes in professional, collegiate and amateur sports settings. The development of new collaborations with recreational exercise facilities to provide enhanced understanding of dangerous exercise behaviors and disordered eating and how to work with gym managers and trainers to ensure better practices for raising concerns with recreational exercisers will also be discussed. Workshops will include, but are not limited to, topics such as medical issues, the role of athletic trainers, the creation of treatment teams and prevention. Current topical research papers will also be offered.

Conference Program now available.
