THE MEDIA LOVE EATING DISORDERS:
BUT DO YOU LOVE THE MEDIA?
A Media Training Workshop on how to use the media to get your message across
The AED is proud to offer a special media training workshop on Wednesday, May 14, prior to this year’s International Conference on Eating Disorders in Seattle, Washington.
Stephanie Crayton is the University of North Carolina Health Care's Media Relations Manager. She manages the day-to-day outreach with local, state, and national news media. She also conducts media training with UNC faculty. Prior to joining UNC Health Care in 2001, Stephanie was a health reporter at television stations in Raleigh and Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She has also worked in Washington, D.C., and at CNN in Atlanta.
In 2006, Stephanie won an interactive media award from the North Carolina Association of Government Information Officers for the creation of UNC Health Care's Hurricane Katrina Relief Blog, in which UNC physicians and nurses who were deployed to the Gulf Coast wrote about their experiences. She is often heard saying, "Preparation is never lost time."
With extensive broadcast and media relations experience, Ms. Crayton conducts media workshops for health professionals around the US helping them to develop a comfortable and effective style with the media. Ms. Crayton has as special interest in eating disorders as she has been helping the AED with media relations around fashion industry issues for the past two years.
The Media Workshop will take place from 8:30 am - noon on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at the The Westin Seattle, Seattle (Washington, USA). Training will include didactics as well as personalized practice, feedback, and instruction. Attendance is limited so act quickly to reserve your place. Professional media trainings can cost thousands of dollars per day. The AED is pleased to offer reduced registration fees of US $175 for members and $200 for nonmember conference attendees (before April 2).
