Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Psychology with a focus in Child and Adolescent Eating Disorder at Seattle Children's Hospital and the University of Washington, Seattle, WA.
Applications are invited for a 12-month Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Child and Adolescent Eating Disorder at Seattle Children's Hospital and in partnership with the University of Washington with a preferred start date of July 1, 2021 (negotiable). The fellowship is designed to prepare the post-doctoral level trainee for a career in a medical-academic setting providing behavioral healthcare to youth in a multidisciplinary setting. The primary patient populations will include children and adolescents with eating disorders and related conditions.
The postdoctoral fellow will develop expertise in the assessment and treatment of eating disorders in both hospital and outpatient clinic settings as part of the Psychiatry/Psychology Consult/Liaison team and the outpatient Eating Disorders team. These activities will comprise approximately 60% of their time, split across inpatient and outpatient care. The fellow will have supervised experience in psychiatric assessment, risk assessment, psychoeducation, and intervention for the full spectrum of eating disorder psychopathology (i.e., Anorexia Nervosa, Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, and Other Specified Feeding and Eating Disorders). Specific training will be provided in empirically-supported treatments including Family-Based Treatment, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for ARFID, and Enhanced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for eating disorders. In addition, the postdoctoral fellow will develop inpatient consultation skills and gain experience providing feedback and recommendations to medical teams, as well as patients and their families. Clinical supervision will be primarily provided by Seattle Children's psychologists Dr. Cynthia Flynn and Dr. Nicole Stettler. The postdoctoral fellow will also have the opportunity to participate in weekly group consultation and didactic learning experiences.
In addition, the postdoctoral fellow will spend approximately 40% of their time engaged in program development, implementation, and research related to the Eating Disorders Treatment Network (EDTN). The EDTN is a philanthropically-funded project aiming to provide training in the evidence-based treatment of eating disorders to our community mental health partners working within the Medicaid system, and ultimately to increase availability of mental health care for youth with eating disorders across Washington State. The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to engage in research activity evaluating the effectiveness of the EDTN in dissemination of evidence-based treatments. They will also have the opportunity to be involved in the delivery of didactic training and ongoing consultation with clinicians participating in the EDTN.
Selection Criteria:
Applicants must have completed all requirements for graduation from a doctoral program in clinical psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) or Canadian Psychological Association (CPA), including dissertation defense, and an APA or CPA accredited internship program prior to the start of fellowship. Ideal candidates have experience with eating disorders in inpatient and/or outpatient settings, have previous research experience, and have scheduled or completed their dissertation defense.
