The postdoctoral psychology fellowship program provides advanced training in psychological assessment, treatment, consultation, and interdisciplinary collaboration in the context of a dedicated pediatric medical center. Specialized areas of interest pursued by the fellow may be offered at the discretion and availability of the supervising faculty. In addition to clinical experiences, fellows participate in didactic training, including case conferences, grand rounds, supervision seminars, and other educational programming. Fellows may contribute to existing research projects with specific goals that are attainable during the fellowship year. The fellow may have the opportunity to supervise an advanced level graduate practicum student. The program strives to facilitate a well-balanced set of clinical and professional skills to prepare fellows for successful careers as psychologists within academic medical centers, primary care clinics, private practice, and a variety of other clinical settings.

 

All applicants must have: 1) attended an APA-accredited doctoral graduate program in clinical or counseling psychology 2) completed an APA-accredited internship with a clinical child or pediatric focus; and 3) completed all requirements for the doctoral degree prior to beginning the fellowship. The position's starting date is typically in early August of 2022. Salary is competitive with benefits provided (medical and dental, vacation, and standard holiday/sick leave).

 

 

1. Clinical Child/ Pediatric Psychology- Emphasis working with Eating Disorders Population (12 months). Fellows can focus clinical training in eating disorders within two primary treatment settings. The first is the transdisciplinary outpatient Eating Disorders Center (EDC) and will be supervised by psychologists who are Certified Eating Disorders Specialists through the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals and have access to certified Family-Based Treatment providers. The EDC serves a diverse population of patients, ages 8-18, with a primary diagnosis of an eating disorder, addressing these symptoms as well as comorbid conditions. The second clinical setting in which fellows would gain experience complementary to the EDC is within the Metabolic/Bariatric Weight Management Clinic, a tertiary care clinic serving individuals (primarily adolescents and young adults) with Class III (severe) Obesity and medical/psychological comorbidities (i.e., T2DM, sleep apnea). Fellows would complete pre-op evaluations, follow patients with the transdisciplinary team in the pre-op behavior change and surgery preparation process, and follow patients' post-surgery, including inpatient consultation. Fellows will gain experience with formalized Family-Based Treatment, cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and components of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy. In addition to the above year-long training experiences, fellows would have the opportunity to gain smaller experiences with populations in which disordered eating is common (e.g., feeding clinic, diabetes, gender affirmation clinic). Additionally, optional research opportunities are available through either a limited individual project (i.e., possible to complete in a year) or contributing to ongoing projects within the clinics. 4) Three letters of recommendation submitted directly from your recommenders (at least two from supervisors familiar with your clinical work).

 

 

 

All qualified applications will be reviewed with invitation for virtual interviews to be held in mid- January of 2022. Applicants will be notified as soon as they are no longer under consideration and when all positions are filled.
