The Behavioral Wellness Clinic (BWC) is searching for a dedicated, passionate clinical postdoctoral fellow to provide evidence-based services in our growing specialty clinic. BWC is the parent company housing the Louisville Center for Eating Disorders (LCED) and Louisville OCD Clinic (LOCD). While BWC provides psychotherapy across a variety of conditions and populations, therapists primarily specialize in the provision of evidence-based treatment for eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and anxiety disorders. BWC therapists are cross-trained to treat patients across both clinics, as well as participate in multidisciplinary treatment and consultation teams.
Both specialty clinics provide outpatient and intensive outpatient programming (IOP), with LCED preparing to provide a partial hospitalization program (PHP) in 2021. We are the only clinic in the entire Commonwealth providing specialty care for eating disorders and OCD. Additionally, the clinic is active in ongoing research with local universities to further advance the provision of evidence-based therapies, and extend the reach of specialists to treat these conditions effectively. BWC has a top-notch reputation in the community for providing psychological services that are evidence-based, specialized, and patient-centered. Clinicians are seen regularly at community outreach events and professional conferences as keynote and expert presenters. We are also specifically looking for an individual who has experience and willingness to provide supervision to our wide range of trainees.
Prior training and experience in the provision of evidence-based therapies is preferred. While specific training in the treatment of eating disorders or OCD is a plus, it is understood that most applicants and new-hires had no previous training in those approaches. We offer extensive training from clinical staff members who are experts in the field, as well as monthly didactic training, weekly consultation teams, and access to a comprehensive digital library of treatment manuals, workbooks, handouts, and peer-reviewed journal articles. It is our goal to support your development as a specialist in the provision of evidence-based therapies for eating disorders and OCD. Additional training is also offered to therapists interested in learning more about using virtual reality in exposure-based work, DBT, ACT, family-based treatment for adolescents, and evidence-based approaches for the treatment of PTSD. We work closely with researchers at the University of Louisville, and are therefore continuously using novel, evidence-based practices with our patients.
The COVID-19 pandemic posed several challenges to mental health clinics across the entire nation. We are proud to say that BWC was prepared for such challenges, and seamlessly transitioned the practice to remote services for clinical and administrative operations. BWC had been training in the use of telepsychology since 2012, so a swift transition to remote services paid no interruptions in patient care. BWC continues to provide top-notch care while adhering to guidelines for social distancing set forth by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and local health officials.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative, motivated, and collaborative postdoctoral fellow to join our full-time staff. We are interested in candidates who value diversity and inclusion, and who are interested in exploring ways to raise awareness of implicit bias and barriers to quality mental health care. A full-time therapist would be involved in the following duties, tasks, responsibilities, and capacities:
● Provide intake assessments to inform treatment plans
● Utilize evidence-based treatment approaches in individual and group formats (couples and family formats are also available)
● Willingness to provide supervision to university pre-doctoral students
o There are opportunities to supervise licensed psychological associates (LPAs) for health service providers
● Participation across outpatient, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization programs
● Attendance at interdisciplinary treatment teams and regular consultation and training to build and develop competency in treatment approaches
● Participation in trainings and willingness to grow in knowledge of evidence-based treatments across a range of diverse populations (e.g., children, older adults)
● Ability to be flexible with a caseload that includes children, adolescents, and adults
● Willingness to work with a diverse population of individuals
● Proper storage of private and sensitive patient information
Other requirements and preferences are as follows:
● Applicants must be licensed in their respective field (Master's or Doctorate level)
o Postdoctoral candidates are also encouraged to apply
● Flexibility in scheduling to include evening hours, if needed
● Preference for a start date asap, though we are flexible given fit for the position
As a thriving and growing specialty clinic, salary will be commensurate with prior experience with potential for substantial increases and bonuses. There are also opportunities for growth, supervision of practicum students, and future leadership roles. Postdoctoral students are also invited to apply for this position, with supervision included.
