Request for Assistance in Participant Recruitment for a Study on Yoga in Eating Disorder Treatment

Dear Therapists/Directors of Eating Disorder Treatment Centers,

My name is Erga Lemish and I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Counseling Psychology at University at Buffalo, The State University of New York. For my dissertation research, guided by Dr. Janice DeLucia, I am studying the impact of yoga as part of a comprehensive approach to eating disorder treatment. As a director of an eating disorder treatment center, I am hoping that you would be interested and willing to help me recruit participants for this study. My hope is that findings from this study will contribute to our understanding of the effectiveness of treatments and the recovery process of those with eating disorders.

For this study I am recruiting former clients who have received treatment for a primary eating disorder at either a residential, partial hospital program (PHP)/ day treatment, or intensive outpatient program (IOP) within the last 12 months. Please send this out regardless of whether your treatment center offers yoga as part of treatment.

Please forward the email below confidentially (using the BCC function in your email is perhaps the easiest way to do this) to your former clients. The invitation for clients (below) includes a link to the online survey, which takes an approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Please also send me (ergalemi@buffalo.edu) a quick line to let me know you have sent out this research request to your former clients so that I can acknowledge your assistance in this study.

This study was approved by University at Buffalo's Institutional Review Board (IRB study #00003877). Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions about this study at: ergalemi@buffalo.edu. You can also contact the IRB at (716) 888-4888 or email ub-irb@buffalo.edu.
