Are you a healthcare provider who works with people with eating disorders?  If so, we would like to speak to you.  Our research team, led by Dr. Melinda Parisi Cummings at Holy Family University, is interviewing providers to explore how they navigate various treatment refusal situations.  All interviews are confidential.

At present, there is little guidance in the professional literature regarding best practices for responding to treatment refusal.  The results of this exploratory study will help to develop and clarify clinical recommendations and directions for additional study.  This study has been reviewed by the Holy Family University Institutional Review Board.

Eligibility criteria for participation are as follows:

    • Licensed or registered healthcare provider (physician, psychologist, social worker, professional counselor, marriage and family therapist, dietitian, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, or registered nurse) to those with eating disorders
    • At least one year of experience working full-time exclusively with clients who have eating disorders, or the equivalent (e.g., five years of full-time experience where 20% of caseload comprises clients with eating disorders).
    • Can communicate in English

Interviews will be conducted online using the remote meeting service, "Zoom" at a time that is convenient for you and will take approximately 60-90 minutes.  Please contact the primary investigator at mcummings@holyfamily.edu for more information.
