Equip is a virtual program helping families recover from eating disorders at home with comprehensive, gold-standard care created by experts in the field and people in recovery. Equip's five-person care teams include dietitians, physicians, therapists, and mentors who deliver wrap-around support to provide families healing and lasting recovery.
We created Equip to increase access to evidence-based treatment for all people affected by eating disorders. In line with this mission, we are committed to partnering closely with insurance companies and ensuring our team, patients, treatment, and brand reflect the diversity of those affected by eating disorders.
    About the role:
Equip's Research mission is to become a leader in eating disorder research. The core components of Equip's Research mission are to be the go-to source for evidence based treatment, use empirical data to inform treatment and improve outreach, and conduct experiments to improve eating disorder treatment. To meet our objectives, our team conducts rigorous research to improve the treatment we provide our patients and to advance the eating disorder field.
We are seeking passionate and qualified candidates for a postdoctoral research fellowship with the Equip Research Team. Fellows will work directly with the Equip Research Team in carrying out our mission to not only improve access to treatment for all patients with an eating disorder but to pioneer new research to improve long-lasting recovery. This is an ideal opportunity for individuals who are academically trained but interested in a transition to industry.

    Responsibilities:

      • The Equip Research Team invites applicants for a postdoctoral research fellowship who will primarily train under the supervision of Dr. Dori Steinberg, VP of Research, and Dr. Jessica Baker, Senior Research Manager. There are also opportunities to learn from Equip's Data Science Team and Clinical Leadership.
      • The fellow will work with the Equip research team, which includes expertise in data science, nutrition research, psychology, and eating disorder treatment to meet Equip's research mission and objectives. This includes internal testing of the effectiveness of the treatment we provide as well as external research studies designed to move the eating disorder field forward.
      • The fellow will also serve as a bridge between the clinical and research teams, providing evidence for the effectiveness of our treatment program. Specific tasks include literature and scientific review, informing team reports, manuscript preparation and submission, presenting at academic meetings, data analysis, assisting with grant proposals, and other tasks related to ongoing research needs.
      • Fellows also have the opportunity to develop and complete independent research projects.

    Requirements:

      • Earned doctorate or equivalent degree in psychology, public health, clinical science, behavioral science, nutrition, nursing, or other related field
      • Research interests aligned with the mission of Equip Health
      • Record of related research experience appropriate for a postdoctoral fellowship
      • Strong academic writing skills as evidenced by peer reviewed publications and conference presentations
      • Knowledge of basic statistical tests, quantitative research, and research study design
      • Ability to work independently, excellent organization and interpersonal skills, self-motivated, and team-oriented

Bonus if you have the following:

      • Demonstrated experience in qualitative research methods
      • Demonstrated experience conducting successful eating disorder research
      • Experience using R, Python, or similar software to conduct statistical analyses
      • Knowledge and experience conducting digital health interventions
      • Passion for mental health and eating disorder treatment and expanding access to treatment
