FBT-TAY is a treatment grounded in the original FBT-AN and FBT-BN manuals (Lock and Le Grange, 2013; Le Grange and Lock, 2007). However, FBT-TAY is different from FBT for adolescents as it:
1) Is tailored to address the unique developmental needs of older adolescents and young adults with AN;
2) Promotes greater collaboration with the young person and their parents; and,
3) Assists with behavioural changes and the psychological tasks associated with emerging adulthood in the final phase of this treatment. FBT-TAY is also designed to be longer and more intensive than FBT for adolescents with AN and BN (i.e., 25 sessions over 9 months).
