Bio

Janell Mensinger, PhD is an Associate Professor in the Department of Clinical and School Psychology at Nova Southeastern University.  She is an interdisciplinary trained applied health psychologist who conducts research on weight inclusive interventions to enhance interoceptive awareness and positive embodiment in individuals struggling with eating and body concerns. She teaches doctoral-level courses in eating disorders theory and interventions, as well as statistics and measurement theory.  She is recruiting students to her new research lab, CHEERS (the Collaborative for Healing Eating concerns through Empowerment and Resilience for all Sizes) focused on mindful self-compassion-based interventions that are trauma-informed, weight inclusive, and scalable for dissemination.
