Heather, MSW, LICSW, QCSW, ACSW has served on the Board of the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) (2013 to present), including as a Research Advisory Council (RAC) Feeding Hope Fund (FHF) grant reviewer, Conference Committee Co-Chair, Executive Committee strategic planner, and Development Committee contributor to programs.
She collaborates with her NEDA colleagues on eating disorder research studies, papers, and presentations, including at NEDA conferences, the Academy for Eating Disorders (AED) International Conference on Eating Disorders (ICED) conferences, the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP) conferences, and the Eating Disorder Research Society (EDRS) conferences.
She serves as an eating disorder grant reviewer for the Department of Defense (DOD), a conference proposal reviewer for AED and IAEDP, a manuscript reviewer for the International Journal of Eating Disorders (IJED) and the European Eating Disorders Review (EEDR), an advocate for National Advocacy Days for the Eating Disorder Coalition (EDC), a research assistant to Jenni Schaefer for her forthcoming book on trauma, and a contributor to professional and program development (Rhode Island Hospital/Hasbro Children’s Hospital Eating Disorders Partial Hospital, Outpatient, and Home-Based clinical programs; University of California at San Diego [UCSD] Eating Disorders Center for Treatment and Research).
Through her Research Project Director position at Brown University, Warren Alpert Medical School, Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior (2007 to 2018), she has been collaborating with her colleagues at the Rhode Island Hospital/Hasbro Children’s Hospital Eating Disorders Partial Hospital, Outpatient, and Home-Based clinical programs (2013 to present) for conference presentations (e.g., Bradley Hospital Conference Series).
Through her Faculty-Research Associate appointment at Brown University, School of Public Health, Department of Health Services, Policy, and Practice, Hassenfeld Child Innovation Institute (2016 to present), she has been collaborating with her Healthy Weight and Nutrition colleagues to submit grant proposals (e.g., NEDA).
Through her Faculty-Associate Specialist appointment at University of California San Diego (UCSD), School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry (2019 to present), she has been collaborating with her Eating Disorders Center for Treatment and Research colleagues for conference presentations (e.g., AED), and papers (e.g., Eating Disorders: The Journal of Treatment and Prevention; EDTJP).
Through her Faculty appointment at AED (2017 to present), she has been serving as a member of the Professionals and Recovery Special Interest Group (SIG) (2019 to present), the Experts by Experience (ExE) Committee (2019 to present), and the SIG Oversight Committee, including as a liaison to the Professionals and Recovery, Early Career, Child and Adolescent, and University SIGS (2020 to present). She initiated an ED Funding project with colleagues, including Walter Kaye, Michael Levine, Elissa Myers, Claire Mysko, and Craig Johnson.
