Dr. Maher is licensed in the fields of clinical psychology and nutrition in NY, CT, and FL (telehealth). She currently owns a private practice in Westport, CT. She has over 20 years of experience treating eating and weight disorders in adolescents and adults. She has expertise in the areas of Binge-Eating Disorder, Bulimia Nervosa, Obesity, OSFED, Atypical Anorexia, Eating Disorders in Athletes. She also specializes in the treatment of co-occurring mood disorders, physical illness, and sports injury.
Dr. Maher has extensive training in the fields of Eating Disorders and Obesity. Prior to obtaining a doctorate in Clinical Health Psychology from Yeshiva University in 2002, she earned a master’s degree in Nutrition from Columbia University where she studied behavioral weight loss and eating disorders for several years. She was an Instructor in Eating Disorders at Massachusetts General Hospital and a Fellow in Weight and Eating Disorders at Harvard Medical School from 2002-2004. She has directed clinical research on restrictive dieting at Columbia University, as well as addiction research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, where she received awards for her doctoral research with cancer patients. She is a published author in scholarly psychology and nutrition journals. She is listed in the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee Mental Health Registry as recognition of her work with elite athletes.
